Buying Guide
- Deck type and purpose: Identify whether you want a Svengali, gaffed, standard trick deck, or a broader teaching kit. Svengali and gaffed decks focus on specific tricks, while instructional kits help you build a versatile routine library.
- Learning resources: Look for decks that include tutorials, QR-coded videos, or streaming access. Quality guidance accelerates learning and consistency in performances.
- Stock and handling: Authentic Bicycle stock is favored for durability and handling. Consider the feel of the cards, corner wear, and ease of shuffling as you practice.
- Practicality for your setting: For close-up magicians, subtlety and speed matter; for stage performers, visible effects and audience engagement count. Choose a deck that aligns with your typical performance environment.
- Budget and progression: Begin with beginner-friendly decks that include multiple tricks, then expand to gaffed or advanced decks as skills grow. A kit with two trick decks can be a cost-effective investment to broaden options.
- Theme and presentation: Thematic decks (like Avatar or Final Fantasy) can inspire storytelling elements and diversify your performance persona. Ensure the style fits your persona and audience.
These options provide a spectrum from simple, reliable reveals to more elaborate setups with extensive learning materials. When selecting, balance your current skill level, performance goals, and preferred presentation style to maximize impact.
